Pine and Fir Trees may be protected starting in the spring with a one-time, season-long preventative spray application on the trunks of trees. According to a government study, “a 97% control for one year” is possible. Drought conditions, water restriction or diversion from structures, cuts in grade from septic systems and roadways, and soil compaction from automobiles are all factors that work against the trees.
